Welcome to the PostGraduate Showcase for the Mackintosh School of Architecture.

In the following pages you will be able to explore the work of students completing their Masters degrees in session 2020/21. All students have had the opportunity to curate and exhibit their work here, and to represent aspects of their thinking and practice that means most to them.

Postgraduate students have proved their commitment to extending their expertise and knowledge, and speculating on futures within their respective specialist territory. They have achieved this despite the disruption brought about by  COVID-19.

Unlike the traditional degree show, the Postgraduate Showcase will be added to over time, and it is possible for you to browse its contents again and again. The Showcase also allows the work to become available to a wider national and international audience.

We hope that you will enjoy this chance to explore this work which we are justifiably proud of.

Microclimate of the semi-enclosed building space

This paper studies the microclimate characteristics of the semi-enclosed space on the ground floor of Guangzhou University Library. After a questionnaire survey and simulation using the Integrated Environmental Solution (IES) software, the existence of microclimate in the semi-enclosed space was confirmed. It is found that the microclimate is characterized by slightly warm, high relative humidity, low radiation and high wind speed. At the same time, the direct and indirect reasons for students' preference for the semi-enclosed space are found.
