Yang Huang is an illustrator from Beihai, a coastal city in southern China. Her recent work revolves around themes of intimate relationships, as well as the visualisation of intangible elements such as memory and atmosphere. With a strong emphasis on detail and narrative, she combines traditional materials like mineral pigments and coloured pencils with digital techniques. Her compositions often feature vintage tones and intricate structures, reflecting her interest in the fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics.

“I SAW THAT PAIR OF SHOES AGAIN” is a picture book project. It tells the story of the protagonist and a pair of “ghost shoes” that appear in her life at any time. As the story unfolds, the reasons for the appearance of these ghost shoes, their symbolic meaning, and the stories behind them are gradually revealed.
