My project is inspired by Disco Elysium, a video game deeply rooted in Estonian history. The city in the game, Revachol, reflects the ideological landscape of real-world Tallinn—feudalism, communism, and capitalism. Both Estonia and Revachol have undergone dramatic ideological shifts within only a century and each promised future never truly arrived. In the game, disco somehow becomes a political metaphor: a cultural or ideological symbol whose form remains, while its spirit has quietly disappeared.
I explore the temporal tension between faded grandeur and the decline of sea power, drawing inspiration from two key characters—Lilienne Carter, a fisherwoman; and Harrier Du Bois, a detective suspended between nostalgia and duty. Influenced by Studio 54 and the documentary From the Sea to the Land Beyond, I blend disco colors and fishing net textures into sustainable, handcrafted knitwear, reshaping forgotten histories into emotionally resonant garments.
