At its core, my practice is driven by the belief that design can shape futures where everyone belongs and has the opportunity to thrive with dignity.

Becoming Again: A guided journey of self-discovery after a fibromyalgia diagnosis
Living with an invisible illness is both debilitating and isolating, not just because of the condition itself, but because its impact on daily life often goes unseen. This is especially true for people with fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition with no single known cause, no cure, and an unclear medical pathway.
People with fibromyalgia often feel dismissed by healthcare providers and believe others doubt the reality of their pain. Conversely, providers frequently struggle to communicate the limitations of medicine and the need for a holistic approach. This expectation–communication gap prevents effective care and support.
Becoming Again was created to bridge this gap. The reflective app supports people at the point of fibromyalgia diagnosis, before they are expected to self-manage. It helps users understand their condition, evaluate how pain affects different areas of their life, and begin processing the emotional impact of living with ongoing pain.
Through periodic check-ins, personalized insights, and space for self-reflection, the app helps users recognize where they need support and prepares them for more meaningful conversations with their care team. It provides a structured way to capture experiences often overlooked in clinical settings, including emotional, social, and identity-related impacts.
Unlike traditional symptom trackers, Becoming Again centers the lived experience of the person with fibromyalgia. By guiding users from searching for a cure to actively building a life they can manage, the app fosters both emotional acceptance and practical self-advocacy, supporting a more holistic approach to care.
