Meredith Jiang

I work with layers and folds
a language of protection, a quiet logic of safety.
To wrap, and to break free.
I stay in that pull.
My designs are without gender.
They belong to anyone, or no one.
My world is black, or white.
Color appears as shadow — in grey only I name.
Collections

Shelter 0
This genderless collection, titled Shelter 0, responds to environmental urgency and dissolves binary constraints through conscious design. The “0” symbolizes neutrality, circularity, and infinite possibility—echoed in each garment’s fluid, layer wrap construction that offers both comfort and dynamic movement.
Natural, biodegradable fabrics are paired with low-impact dyeing techniques to reduce chemical use and energy consumption. Modular features—detachable, reversible, and adjustable—promote versatility, encouraging long-term wear while minimizing waste.
Inspired by the traditional Azorean Capote e Capelo, a voluminous hooded cloak once worn by women for protection and modesty, the sculptural silhouettes convey introspection, shelter, and strength.Infused with the rebellious spirit of Patti Smith, Shelter 0 empowers authentic self-expression beyond gender norms, redefining identity through form, function, and feeling.
