Chandler Curtsinger

Howdy! My name is Chandler Curtsinger, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art with a focus in Scientific Illustration from the University of Georgia. I am currently a student of the MSc Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy course. My passion for this subject has led me down a long journey of discovery and exploration. Understanding the complexities of communication and how art/visualisation can facilitate conversations and comprehension of difficult subjects within the medical field fuels my interest as I continue the path of becoming a medical visualiser.

VascuX- Visualizing a Self-Reporting Vascular Implant Device for Hemodialysis Patients
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of 3D animation as a communication tool for early-stage vascular access medical devices amongst biomedical professionals. Demonstrating how the animation has the potential to be a superior communication tool to comparative 2D media when measuring comprehension, user engagement, and retention of information. A 3D animation was developed in co-creation with VascuX industry partner to convey the functionality, importance, and perceived benefits of their medical device.
