Kaicheng Zhu (Kayla)

I am a designer who views imagination and interdisciplinary thinking as forces for change, a questioner who refuses easy answers and invites deeper inquiry to reveal overlooked possibilities, a creator who reframes things in a new light rather than seeing them conventionally, a voyager who seeks new contexts, collects insights, and translates those discoveries into empathetic, practical design.

Workplace Departure: Reframing The Offboarding Experience
This project reframes the offboarding experience, transforming a transactional HR process into a ritualised farewell journey and explores the tension between traditional career trajectories (i.e., stable and upward-moving ‘career ladders’) and non-linear career trajectories marked by frequent transitions, sideways pivots, re-entries, etc.
It aims to cultivate recognition, maintain relational continuity, and support ongoing collaboration by treating exit as a strategic moment of evolution for both individuals and organisations. More importantly, it encourages more organisations to position themselves as advocates of lifelong learning and agile workforces. This project also seeks to broaden my reach across different demographics and industries to spark wider discussions about contemporary work culture.
