Social media viewing behavior
We observe others on social media every day, but rarely realize that observing itself is an act. Every click, search, swipe, pause, or zoom in on an image is not neutral. My project explores how acts of looking on social media shape self-perception and identity. I am interested in the ways users participate in systems of surveillance and self-surveillance through everyday actions such as viewing, searching, scrolling and tracking others online.
