Yueyi Wang(YY) is an emerging artist who grew up with the influence of Internet culture and subculture after the millennium. Her works are influenced by the artist’s nostalgia and based on the research of dreamcore aesthetics. By using various media like sculpture, video and sound, she is building a fancy dreamlike world with childhood nostalgia and fantasy elements to let people regain forgotten feelings.
She is now active in Glasgow, China and other regions, and is committed to bringing people into the imagination space and healing the mind through art activities and works. She held a solo exhibition The Inner Garden in July 2024, curated a group exhibition Beyond Reality in August 2024, and will start the Healing With Clay Workshop Project in September.

When I was young, I often played with my good friends after school. My parents stipulated that I must go home before seven o’clock no matter what. At that time, I was thinking how great it would be if the time never reached seven o’clock, so that I could stay with my friends all the time. In fun time. Even as I grow up, I have not made any progress at all.
I always want to stay in the good and happy times of the past. So I created this fantasy world without “seven o’clock”, which means I never have to say goodbye to my friends, and I never have to leave this paradise that will never disappear.
But will everything really be as imagined? It seems that everyone has been moving forward, and I am the only one who still stays here recalling the past memories. The rich and colorful world is actually empty inside. This human-made paradise is a metaphor for all unforgettable memories. Growing up always means goodbye. When you don’t want to face those goodbyes, you can also choose to temporarily escape into this illusory paradise.

These organisms are from another unknown world. As they came into this world, they became fluid forms of organisms, gradually adapting to breathing oxygen. If you squat down and get close to them you can hear them say: “We come from another wonderful space. Do you want to go there with us? It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to leave here. Our presence will turn this place into another Eternal Space.”
