Hi, I am an interior design student from China. I like nature, plants and vegetables. So, since the second semester, I have been thinking about sustainable design for plant growth and bringing nature closer to our life.😀
Under The Green-The underground planting communication space
Scotland has many derelict spaces. Glasgow is the one of cities that have the greatest number of derelict spaces. The long-term existence of derelict space can affect economic development and even pollute the natural environment. The government is also currently encouraging the reuse of derelict spaces so that the negative impacts can be reduced. This research project aims to explore a more sustainable planting space and use the emotion between people and place to help derelict spaces out of the state of abandonment. The main research method is use specular reflection to reflect sunlight into interior by using mirror. Also, by reading theories and case studies found that people like go to the derelict spaces is due to the derelict spaces have the exploratory character. Therefore, this project use rainwater collection as a water feature and keep the playfulness character from original site. Using less energy to grow vegetables and allow people learning knowledge about growing plants or have a walk in this area, make people engage more to the nature.
