I Take Climate Action:Explore climate change awareness to action
In the context of global climate change, although over 80 percent of Scotland’s residents are concerned about climate change, this awareness has not been sufficiently translated into individual action. Many people see their own behaviour as insignificant and incapable of combating a problem of such magnitude, and therefore often overlook their own potential contribution to combating climate change, which has led to a reliance on collective endeavour and a reluctance to engage in individual climate initiatives.
This has led me to think about what the distance is between climate awareness and action in Scotland, what the existing narrative of climate change in Scotland actually looks like, and what kind of enablers what kind of guidance is needed and what kind of obstacles and difficulties are encountered in the process.
What is climate change action?
What are the boundaries between individual and collective action?
I will explore how individual actions, when recognised and valued, can form the basis for wider community and collective efforts. Examining the psychological and social barriers that prevent individuals from taking action and developing strategies to overcome them.
This project aims to help Scottish residents discover positive climate behaviours in their daily lives by conceptually designing and reconstructing narratives of climate action. Regardless of their original intent, these behaviours are inadvertently contributing to the fight against climate change. By uncovering these ‘undiscovered’ climate actions, the project hopes to raise awareness of the impact of individual actions and inspire more people to get involved in climate action.
