Between Layers is a rule-based graphic system built around chance and reader participation. It consists of a set of transparent layers that can be randomly selected, overlapped, moved and recombined, allowing different visual relationships to appear through use.

The project asks how much of a visual experience needs to be decided by the designer, and how much can be left open for the reader to shape. There is no single correct combination; the focus is on trying, comparing and observing how the relationships between layers change.
