My work is inspired by the traditional handmade lotus lanterns of my hometown and Chinese cinema. I want the ethnic craft traditions and the aesthetics of my country to be more widely known and celebrated

I have explored the Chinese idiom of ‘softness on the outside and strength on the inside’ where rigidity and tenderness temper each other to offer a wise philosophy for dealing with the world.

In times of pandemics, increased stress levels, a downward economic spiral and poor mental health I hope my work and Chinese philosophy will encourage the wearer to face life with soft external beauty, inner strength and a positive mindset.
