Some Thresholds are Crossed Without Moving
This series of photographs is my interpretation of the word portal. Rather than showing a physical doorway, I used light, shadow and reflection to explore how we can feel like we’ve entered a space before actually stepping into it. My shadow, reflection and silhouette become different ways of showing the idea of crossing a threshold without physically moving.
Moving through a golden pause between dusk and dawn.
I arrive as shadow before I arrive as myself.
A step inside through shadow.
Where the shadow leans towards morning light.
Some reflections draw me closer, before I move.
And something remains, even as I leave...
In between light and its absence.
