Rot in red, Grow in black

This project centers on responsible design, emphasizing equality, inclusion, well-being, and emotional resonance. It seeks to highlight women’s strength, encouraging resilience and self-growth in the face of oppression. Inspired by Junji Ito’s Tomie, the collection uses reconstructed fabrics to reflect cycles of regeneration, symbolizing enduring female resilience. The sailor-collar silhouette is exaggerated, reinterpreting its shift from youthful innocence to post-war restraint. Movements drawn from Japanese Butoh dance express resistance and emotional depth. A restrained palette of black, white, and grey creates tension, while red accents evoke flesh and rebirth, visually reinforcing the theme of continuous transformation, survival, and empowerment through adversity.
