Matchmaking – THE CLASSIFIED
This project explores how classification operates within Chinese matchmaking, where individuals are often reduced to standardised information such as age, education, income, property and family background.
Through a system of cards and posters, the project examines how graphic design makes people readable, comparable and evaluable. Repeated grids, hierarchy and categories invite viewers to compare profiles, while also revealing what is emphasised, ignored or excluded by the system. Rather than simply representing matchmaking, the project uses graphic design to make the logic and boundaries of classification visible.
