Care home project
Hope Tower
The Hope Tower acts as the environmental and visual core of the project, connecting the different levels through one continuous vertical element. Rather than functioning only as a landmark, it works as
a weather mediator: changes in sunlight, mist, rain and wind can be translated through light, colour, transparency and atmospheric effects, allowing residents to recognise changing outdoor conditions
from inside the care home. Mist can slowly move through the tower and extend into surrounding spaces, while daylight passing through its translucent surfaces creates changing shadows and reflections
throughout the day
Because the tower can be seen from different floors, it also provides a clear
point of orientation for older residents and helps connect otherwise separate
activity areas. Symbolically, the tower represents hope, time and environmental
change, turning weather into something that can be observed repeatedly as part
of everyday life rather than something that remains outside the building
