(she/they)

As a designer, my practice aims to help build spaces that encourage creativity, critical thinking and imagining alternatives. I believe design has a responsibility to challenge notions of who can be creative, and holds this potential as a facilitator.

Multilingual Making

Multilingual Making

This project is a creative exploration of living in multiple languages. While the current world is multilingual and most people speak multiple languages daily, certain languages
hold more power than others, and these hierarchies are deeply interlinked with colonialism and ethno-racial discrimination. This project explores the effect of these language hierarchies on minoritised language speakers in Glasgow. Using participatory
art to facilitate and make tangible these experiences, the project aims to raise awareness around the necessity to address these hierarchies in Glasgow (and the UK) and celebrate the messiness and mix-match of languages used ‘from below’.
