Cache
Cache is a cooperative deduction board game set against the backdrop of a power cut at a company. Players take on the roles of employees stranded at the office due to a power cut. Important laboratory documents have suddenly gone missing, and players must work together to investigate the truth behind the incident. At the start of the game, one of the five events is secretly selected as the true event. The player must piece together the five elements of the incident (characters, objects, time, method and motive) by gathering fragmented clues, exchanging information, verifying evidence and submitting their final deduction. At the same time, each player belongs to a different department of the company and has their own departmental tasks.
The primary design objective of this game is to allow players to experience cognitive activities related to working memory through collaborative reasoning. In order to simulate the experience of neurodiversity, the game does not allow players to save all their progress indefinitely, but requires them to manage it themselves. As the investigation progresses, information management becomes a key component of the reasoning process, presenting challenges for working memory. The game guides players through the typical processes involved in working memory, including maintaining key information, updating existing judgements, resisting distracting information, and retrieving information that has been forgotten.
