Rebecca Rae

(She/Her)

Based in Glasgow, Rebecca Rae is an emerging multidisciplinary artist whose work focusses on the comedic, vulnerable and repetitive absurdness of everyday  life. Living with OCD has allowed Rebecca to explore themes of rituals, the functionality of objects and the uncanny. Through replicating ordinary objects and altering materials in order to remove their original function, Rebecca creates personalized objects that resemble what we are familiar with but contains an underlying strangeness. Using these objects, installations of a place resembling “elsewhere” come to fruition and force confrontation with the absurd and the unsettling.

In her degree show work, small details hide in plain sight. In a society where everything and everyone has somewhere else to be, this space invites you to endure the transition and to be still in a moving area.
