After obtaining a degree in Interior Design in Macau, my passion for the field led me to further my studies at GSA. Through some internships, I had the opportunity to work with professionals from different fields on some renovation projects. This experience has fueled my enthusiasm for exploring the interaction of multiple disciplines and interior space.
In my third-stage design research, I focused on the application of textile elements within interior design. Through the power of textiles, the aim is to establish a historical site within urban environments.

Woven memory
The production and consumption of textiles has historically been an important part of human society. In the face of cultural erosion on Chongming Island, “Tubu”— as a symbol of the island’s culture and heritage—holds particular importance. This project focuses on “Tobu” as an object of study, investigating its traditional textile production techniques and historical significance, and exploring how they are deeply connected to the local people and their social and spiritual worlds.
The research delves into the application of textile elements in interior design. Through the power of textiles, establish an important historical site within urban environments, Finding suggest that the language of textile materials and the formation patterns in architectural decoration share similarities, reflecting on case studies to propose new possibilities for enhancing the experience. The project also includes experiments with traditional weaving techniques, classifying “Tubu” and analysing the various customs associated with its production and historical wearing background. Through these textiles, the project seeks to translate people’s memories with textiles, to weave memories into space, and provide cultural experiences for young people and tourists, thus preserve and revitalise the cultural heritage of Chongming Island.
Research Questions:
1. The materiality of textiles and how they influence human interaction and spatial continuity in interior design?
2. How can textiles be used to translate memories and showcase island textile heritage, thus enhances people’s collective memory?
