MSc Medical Visualisation & Human Anatomy School of Innovation & Technology

Mufliha S. Rihadini

(she/her)

Hello, I’m Mufliha! I have my bachelor degree in Dental Medicine from University of Gadjah Mada in Indonesia. As a dental student, I was always interested in art and graphic design. I learned graphic design in amidst of my dental school year and gained experience in working as a graphic designer in dental educational content in social media. I came across MedVis when I was considering to leave dental professional school and choosing another path to take. With various consideration, I decided to dare myself and enrolled to Medical Visualization and Human Anatomy. It can be assumed as reckless, but it’s worth all the risks.

Medical illustration in Indonesia has not been known widely, especially in dentistry field. My goal to study in Medical Visualization and Human Anatomy are to provide insights to fellow dentistry colleagues and implementing technology in dental education. I have an immense interest in education particularly in medical and dental field. As I learned further in this program, I can say undoubtedly that I want to learn and create more projects in the future in various fields and specialties. I wish that what I have learned can benefit others and I can keep learning!

ScrapAR – Dissertation Project

ScrapAR was designed for learning manual scaling and root planing procedure (SRP). SRP is a procedure to remove plaque(food deposit on tooth surface) and calculus (hardened plaque). The background of making this project are the limitation in dental laboratory skills class portion and high cost of dental instruments which

This project is aimed as an educational learning tool for SRP hand instrumentation learning. In learning manual SRP, knowledge about instruments and how to utilize them are necessary. By implementing AR tracking image and using cards as image target and media to provide necessary information about the procedure, this application created to engage learners with 3D models, animation, and simple interaction.

3D Modelling

This animation created as part of 3D modelling assignment which involves series of adaptative skills such as model retopology, modelling, sculpting, texturing and animation. All the task was performed in 3DsMax and Zbrush. Additional editing was performed using Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro.

DentuLearn

DentuLearn was a group collaborative project that created with purpose of oral health education. This app shows how pH level of saliva and food deposit might contributes to different cause in oral health. It is a WebGL-based application that created in collaboration with Sujin Kang, Liou Song, and Bofei Chen.
