Jinger Shen is a gender-inclusive designer passionate about exploring various mediums and visual languages in design developments. Their collections focus on the theme of the natural relationship between people and things, and this also shapes their life philosophy. As the saying goes, “connecting them to us.”

-STATEMENT-
Sometimes I feel quite feminine, and sometimes more masculine, yet mostly I think of myself as exceedingly liberated and non-binary.
This autobiographical project serves as a personal journey of reflection where I revisited childhood memories that I believe influenced my perception of gender expression. The three childhood recollections are:
-Watching Shaoxing opera with my grandparents where the female actors played male characters with a unique softness when expressing masculine qualities
-Playing in and with cardboard boxes
-a Jacobs ladder toy
My muse was the 20th-century gender-neutral French surrealist artist Claude Cahun. Like them, I hope to challenge gender norms, promote a greater understanding of individual narratives and deter hasty judgments.
