A Disinfectant Preparation Device for Malawi*.
“The solution for Africa’s health problem is in basic health outside of disease, because health does not begin with disease but is dependent on the way of living, clean environment and good nutrition knowledge.” (Joseph K Wang’ombe)
*Malawi: A landlocked country in south-eastern Africa.
What
What it is?
This is a disinfectant production system specifically designed for “backward areas” such as Malawi. It uses solar energy and electrochemical principles to electrolyse salt water to produce 125ppm hypochlorite disinfectant efficiently and environmentally friendly with a small amount of raw materials and virtually no by-products. It is also characterised by its small size and low cost.
Why
Why it exists?
In order to improve the living hygiene environment of local residents and reduce the probability of common diseases. At the same time to reduce the medical pressure of local hospitals, from another perspective to alleviate the problem of local residents generally (29%) live far away from the hospital.
Who
Who it is for?
This design is an open source design, theoretically anyone can produce or use it. However, the original intention of the design is still to be funded by charitable organisations, produced by professional manufacturers, transported along with medical supplies, taught by healthcare professionals on how to use them, and distributed free of charge to local residents when they visit hospitals or clinics.
How
How to use it?
All that needs to be done is to charge under sunlight, fill the groove of the product body with salt, pour the salt into the bottle, add about 350ml of water, tighten, press the button, and wait.
