MLitt Fine Art Practice School of Fine Art
Angela Brown
In this showcase I display a number of works reflecting my current and past practice.
The first section shows works from my MLitt Masters degree in Fine Art Practice at Glasgow School of Art 2023-24. This work centres the lives of women in ancient Greece and contemporary times and channels my enaction of racing at the revival of the Ancient Nemean Games in June 2024. The work combines photography, metalwork, textiles and clay.
The subsequent pages display earlier landscape works both undertaken in Edinburgh, Fair Isle, Orkney, Aberdeenshire but also in Athens, Greece, where my continuing relationship with a small gallery has allowed me to spend time creating a body of work centring Greek history and society.
Please enquire as to availability of any work not already marked as sold.

For Neaera: an Enaction in Greece
In June 2024 I travelled to the Peloponnese of Greece to race in the revival of the Ancient Nemean Games, an event historically banned for women. The art I made out of this experience, and out of my desire to honour one of the few women of ancient Athens about whose life we know anything in detail, Neaera, is the subject of my final Masters Mlitt Show at Glasgow School of Art in August 2024.
