Zelin Zhu
Zelin Zhu is an Architecture Studies student on the Urban Design Pathway, interested in the relationship between people, streets and everyday public life. Her work explores how urban spaces can respond to existing social and spatial conditions through people-centred design, with a particular interest in public space, urban regeneration and the changing role of streets.
Her graduation project, Repairing the High Street, explores the regeneration of Byres Road South in Glasgow through the reinterpretation of Shared Space. The project moves beyond street design to consider the relationship between residential neighbourhoods, the high street and the University of Glasgow. Through interventions in streets, public spaces and urban form, the project investigates how fragmented urban areas can be reconnected and transformed into more active, inclusive and vibrant places for everyday life.
