Narrating Waste Uncertainty and Invisibility is an AI-powered interactive website exploring what happens after household waste leaves our hands. Developed through research in Moray, Scotland, the project focuses on the hidden labour, uncertain decisions and fragmented responsibilities that shape waste systems.

Visitors can have one-to-one conversations with human and non-human characters, from council workers, reuse organisations and overseas processors to a plastic bottle, a broken tablet and the environment. Each character offers only a partial perspective, revealing both what they know and what remains beyond their view.

Rather than presenting Generative AI as a source of definitive answers, the project turns its limitations into part of the experience. By moving between incomplete and sometimes conflicting voices, visitors construct their own understanding of a system that no single person can fully see. The project asks not only where waste goes, but who handles it, who makes decisions and what remains invisible after disposal.
