Flat to Form
My project explores how flat pattern pieces transform into three-dimensional garments, focusing on the relationship between 2D and 3D forms. Inspired by Issey Miyake’s structural approach, I investigate how folding, unfolding and wearing can continuously reshape clothing. Through experiments with paper, fabric and surface treatments, I translate flat structures into wearable forms while exploring material transformation. Research into Cubism and my experience of Glasgow’s harsh weather led me to create collages from everyday photographs, extracting flat silhouettes that developed into draped volumes.
我的项目探讨了平面纸样如何转化为立体服装，重点关注二维与三维形态之间的关系。受三宅一生（Issey Miyake）结构设计理念的启发，我研究了折叠、展开及穿着过程如何不断重塑服装形态。通过对纸张、面料及表面处理工艺的实验，我将平面结构转化为可穿戴的形态，同时探索材料的转化过程。对立体主义（Cubism）的研究以及在格拉斯哥恶劣天气下的生活体验，促使我利用日常照片进行拼贴创作，从中提取平面轮廓并将其演化为具有垂坠感的立体造型。
