This project proposes music as a method for restoring multisensory experience to architectural space. Using the computational toolkit music21, the first movements of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons were analysed and translated into four seasonal spaces within Gasholder No. 4 at Bromley-by-Bow, London. Solo Violin activity generates the plan geometry, Viola register determines window height, and pitch contour informs wall variation. Each space is designed to be encountered through sound, temperature, touch and light, challenging the dominance of vision in contemporary architecture.

If a musical score requires performance to become music, can a spatial translation ever guarantee experience, or does experience ultimately depend on the participant who performs the space?
