Digital Keeping Toolkit
Digital Keeping Toolkit is a service design response to everyday digital accumulation. A survey with 40 respondents showed that the challenge was not simply storage capacity. People also struggled to remember why content had been saved, retrieve it later and decide what could be removed.
The project translates these findings into a calm, non-judgemental service delivered through a responsive website and a physical handbook. Users can reflect on their habits through the Digital Keeping Check-in, explore Digital Tidying Principles and use Guided Keeping to decide whether one item should be kept, reviewed later or let go.
Two rounds of in-person testing shifted the design from describing saving styles towards supporting small, repeatable actions. The outcome does not diagnose users or automate deletion. Instead, it protects user control and frames digital organisation as a form of care for oneself, others and shared digital resources.
