My artistic practice draws on Frida Kahlo, grounding a sustained exploration of flowers inspired by early memories of dahlias in an Iranian film and later shaped by Georgia O’Keeffe’s intimate, abstract focus. Using observational photography at the Botanic Garden, I zoomed into textures to capture the essence of form and color, then translated these findings into 3D installations with artificial blooms and fabric on mannequins. Research into traditional Mexican dress (including sombreros and sarapes) and 1920s flapper dress, informed a 2D collage series and knitwear garments’ development. Alongside this, I developed lots of knitted textiles, experimenting with diverse materials, combined with partial knitting technique to create organic, petal-like forms, refining silhouettes, cuffs, and fringed hems.
