HOW CULTURAL IMAGERY IN FIRST-PERSON NARRATIVE GAMES SUPPORTS ENVIRONMENTAL STORYTELLING
This project explores how cultural imagery can support environmental storytelling in a short first-person narrative game. Developed in Unity, the prototype follows a protagonist who encounters his childhood friend in a dream and explores a series of memory spaces to recover their shared past. Narrative information is communicated through environmental objects, spatial design, interaction and triggered dialogue. The project was evaluated with 20 adult participants using an anonymous questionnaire. The findings suggest that cultural imagery can contribute to environmental storytelling when it is closely connected to character experience, object conditions, spatial context and player interaction.
