Zikai Liu

(Kai)

Hi, I’m Zikai Liu, a game artist focused on environment art, level art, and lighting. I enjoy shaping spaces that feel purposeful, atmospheric, and closely connected to gameplay and narrative.
My work covers the full environment production process, from early blockouts and spatial composition to modular asset creation, materials, lighting, and final presentation. I am particularly interested in environmental storytelling and in using architecture, composition, colour, and light to guide the player’s experience.
Working across Unreal Engine and Unity, I aim to create memorable worlds where visual design, technical execution, and player experience support one another.

VISUAL INCOHERENCE AESTHETIC RECONSTRUCTION IN CINEMATIC 3D ENVIRONMENTS

Project Introduction

Visual Incoherence explores how lighting, spatial layout, materials and local details influence the readability of interactive 3D environments. The project presents a interior prototype created in Unreal Engine 5, supported by editable tools for modular construction and scene reconstruction. Through a problem state, an interactive adjustment process and a reconstructed state, the project examines how users recognise visual issues and improve circulation, visual focus and detail organisation while retaining artistic control.
