Hi, I’m Dipsy, a cross disciplinary experience designer passionate about systems, accessibility, and meaning. I specialize in designing for the intersection of complexity, empathy, and human need, shaping systems that are not only functional but genuinely responsive to the people who move through them.
As someone who’s seen how complex systems shape everyday lives, I design with empathy and intention. Because good design shouldn’t just simplify systems, it should make them feel human.
In Between: Enabling Moment of Support for Self-Advocacy
“Why hasn’t someone told me this sooner?”
Parents in Scotland’s child protection system have no statutory right to advocacy, yet are expected to navigate one of the most complex, traumatising processes. Only 5% of those legally entitled to advocacy can access it.
Annie is an AI-powered self-advocacy companion designed for parents navigating Scotland’s Child Protection System. The project addresses a power asymmetry structurally dispersed across the system and held in place by invisible assumptions leaving parents most alone in the gaps between formal touchpoints, where no space for support exists. Annie shifts this dynamic from a system a parent has to survive, to one they can meet informed, prepared, and heard.
Co-designed through extensive engagement with various stakeholders, and self-advocacy experts, Annie integrates plain-language navigation, reflective preparation tools, and clear escalation to human advocates to help parents build the confidence, knowledge, and capability to advocate for themselves. By providing continuous, credible presence rather than a single point of information, Annie allows self-advocacy to emerge as an outcome of having been supported not a starting expectation placed on parents already in crisis.
