Pride Participation Programme

Pride Participation Programme is a critical design project examining how corporate Pride can translate LGBTQ+ support into purchasable, visible and recordable forms of participation.

The project takes the form of a fictional corporate archive documenting the development of a temporary Pride participation programme. Drawing on the visual language of retail systems, internal administration and certification, it transforms support into products, prices, participation levels, transaction records, receipts and certificates.

Rather than presenting the fictional company as an obvious villain, the project uses calm and plausible corporate language to expose the limits of what a commercial system can measure and complete. While payment, products and participation can be recorded as complete, actual display, community impact and continuing responsibility remain unresolved.

Through publication design, printed matter and institutional mimicry, the project asks what happens when social support is treated as a transaction—and what necessarily remains outside it.

Archive Cover — Values Made Visible

The kraft cover uses a circular cut-out to reveal the layered visual material beneath, framing corporate visibility as something selectively presented through the archive.

Programme Architecture and File Index

The archive is organised into a sequence of corporate files, turning Pride participation into a structured system of research, products, transactions, display and certification.

Campaign Delivery Plan

The programme is structured as a temporary corporate campaign with defined delivery stages, review points and a return to the next annual cycle.

Programme Schedule and Partner Responsibilities

The programme is organised through a fixed campaign period, with defined responsibilities for participating partners during its operation.

Asset Control and Ownership Review

The review distinguishes between corporate ownership of branded assets and the use of Pride imagery that remains culturally shared rather than company-owned.

Diagnosis 02 — Support as Purchase

Purchase-linked contribution turns support into a retail action, connecting participation to the act of buying.

Diagnosis 03 — Allyship and Verification

Visible participation can signal support, but a transaction cannot verify or substantiate ongoing allyship.

Public Display and Social Sharing Guide

The guide standardises how participation should be made visible across physical display and social media.

Programme Promise

The programme promises to make support visible, manageable and easy to confirm by reducing participation to standardised tools, language and selectable visibility levels.

Premium Visibility Kit

The programme packages visibility into a premium retail offer, combining products, display assets, contribution and certification within a single purchasable tier.

Visibility Tote

Visible support is translated into a purchasable product, with its appearance, price and period of use defined by the programme.

Participation Package Comparison

Participation is structured into priced tiers, making visibility and contribution comparable within a retail-style system.

Transaction Receipt

The receipt records the transaction as complete, turning participation into a measurable purchase while leaving responsibility unresolved.programme status and unresolved responsibility.

System Limitson

The red spread identifies forms of support that exceed the limits of the programme and cannot be completed through a managed transaction.

Basket and Order Summary

Participation is processed through a retail-style basket, where visibility, certification and contribution are assembled into a single purchase.

Currently Unavailable Within the Retail Platform

Long-term support, independent assessment and community-led action are positioned outside the retail system because they cannot be reduced to selectable products.

Certificate Scope and Verification Failure

Certification can confirm recorded participation, but it cannot verify continuing support, community accountability or allyship beyond the programme.

Back Cover — File Closed, Responsibility Ongoing

The file and transaction can be closed, while community impact remains unconfirmed and responsibility continues beyond the programme.
