Beth Emsden

Beth likes to go on walks, build Lego and play video games. Her writing is an appreciation of daily smallnesses, their accumulation and relationship to a larger social world. Her poems are both observational and confessional. She reshapes the intimate and familiar, calling up the weird, the funny, and encouraging readers to see things differently. Her writing is featured in Resonance Poetry anthologies 2025 and 2026.

RESIDUE

Residue is what we leave behind. Often sticky and in small amounts, it is the byproduct of a process: grease left in the pan after cooking, pain lingering after a breakup, sweat soaked t-shirt after a run. Over time, residue accumulates ‘this is what I call my fortune’ – Georges Perec (Species of Spaces and Other Pieces).
