The composition is framed by a silver plate, arranged like a formal table setting with a tablecloth, plate, knife and fork. Inside the plate, a character in a white suit raises a glass while being manipulated by skeletons, surrounded by a lavish feast of flowers and carnivorous plants. A vivid red Sword of Damocles hangs above his head. He is both the one enjoying the feast and part of what is being consumed.
