The sapce for coexistence and integration

The project is concerned about the coexistence between eastern and western cultures in one space. Due to the economic reformation, capitalism and market economy became influential in contemporary China. However, the incluence from Communist ideology and Soviet Union remains. The coexistence of socialism and capitalism is what I want to pursue in my current work, as well as the coexistence between two different cultures.

I am fascinated by particular spaces and historical architectures. Although it might be somehow inappropriate, those spaces like churches or palaces are the typical western stuff from my point of view, a perspective from a foreigner of the west world. Spaces in a Castle or palace which were owned by nobles provides valuable insights into the changing hierarchies, power dynamics, and social transformations of different historical periods. It reveals how material objects and architectural choices were used to express and reinforce social status, wealth, and power, as well as the adaptability of castles in response to evolving societal structures. I added some typical figures in China, the red flags and the stone pillars we call Huabiao. Apparently, these characters can hardly exist in a real space. What I want to do through presenting both western and eastern elements indicates the conflicts or coexistence of cultures and the ideologies at this global moment.
