Heather Fletcher (She/Her)
Hi there I am Heather Fletcher! A recent graduate of the GSA MSc in Serious Games and Virtual Reality. I am a designer based in Edinburgh with a passion for illustration and 3D modelling.
Before joining GSA, I graduated in Graphic Design from Edinburgh Napier in 2022, I love to create mixed-media designs from illustration to animation which help tell a story. Before this course I had no prior experience with coding and game design, this course has really helped me develop and widen my skills as a designer, throughout my time at GSA I have had the opportunity to work alongside my peers to create different games, taking an interest in 3D modelling, UX and UI design.
Using the iconic Scottish Lager brand Tennent’s as a case study for my major project, I created a hypothetical brand experience that focused on the rich history of the brewery. The main aim of the project was to see if augmented reality in alcohol packaging has an effect on the user experience. I focused on creating a new style for Tennent’s brand by designing packaging, stickers and coasters to build onto the brand’s identity, following the redesign there was also a mobile application that when the packaging is scanned through the app, animated video will play showcasing the timeline of the brewery.
The Whole Shebang – Pilot Beer
The Whole Shebang
A collaboration between Pilot Beer UK, Beer Without Beards and BarthHaas UK. The aim of this project was to create a product 3D visualisation, I had reached out to Pilot Brewery in order to create a hypothetical can design. I was lucky to be given the opportunity to create a design for ‘The Whole SheBang’ a sour IPA to help celebrate International Women’s Day. It was amazing to be a part of this project, helping design the can sleeve. Incredibly grateful to see the full development process from brewing to packaging!
Collaboration between Natalia Chrzanowska, Michaela Lange and Kyle McLeod
A three-level game based on bees, the game focuses on daily tasks a bee is faced with, The player can explore and learn more about bees by fact cards, help pollinate plants and fill honeycombs, throughout the game the bee faces different obstacles from pesticides to comb webs.
Michaela helped organise and project manage the team, Natalia focused on programming and the environment design, Kyle worked on audio creation and I worked on UX/UI design.
Collaboration between Natalia Chrzanowska, Michaela Lange and Julius Bernikas
This group project was to create a board game based around consequences, Transopolis is a board game that focuses on the environmental impact of transportation bringing light to CO2 emissions. I focused on designing the game art and visuals for this project
Sow & Grow
Sow & Grow
A collaboration with Natalia Chrzanowska
A game based on growing plants and learning how to take care of them, we wanted to create a cosy warm environment where the user can take care of house plants, listen to music and pet cats. The user learns about the plants through plant fact cards and each day the plant will grow on the 6th day there is a summary on if your plants are still alive. I worked on the UI and audio implementation used within the game, and Natalia focused on environment art and programming.
