Project Statement

Inspiration for this project comes from perceptions of space. From the consistent
six square sides of a cube to the contradictory properties of paradoxical space. l
have also explored the traditional Chinese ‘horse-face’ skirts.

Global sustainable development is key to the future of the clothing industry. As
designers, we must practice responsibly.

My contribution to responsible design is to champion ‘buy less, choose well
and make it last. l strive therefore to achieve design excellence and superior
craftsmanship using high-quality fabrics.

I use CLO3D software for 3D experimenting. This drastically reduces fabric waste
at the prototyping stages.

Space Oddity

Space Oddity

Concept

we always stay in the space, the variable quantity are the scene and location. We move from one space to another space, it seems like that the space is the bond between past present and future. We move and are always on the way. The Space Oddity still continue.

Inspiration

I chose three things as my inspirations. The Paradoxical space subtly demonstrates my sense of spatial variation. Besides, we always stay in the single space, it reminds me of a cube and its flat unfolding diagram. I want to recoding the forward walking state.  The last inspiration thing I chose is Horse-Face Dress which is the traditional dress in the Ming dynasty of China. It is composed of a whole rectangular fabric, which is wrapped with straps to be worn, and it is a process from flat to three-dimensional.
