Video testimony of Edu, detained in the Scottish Immigration Removal Centre (Dungavel IRC) and deported.
This video comprises a recording of Edu’s computer screen, showcasing his utilisation of Google Maps and its VR tool to reinforce his explanation. The visuals are complemented by multiple reference photos.
The video has a duration of 18 minutes and remains unedited and unaltered.
Methodology: Edu is offered to to share insights into his experiences within Dungavel Detention Centre encompassing its interior and location. To aid in his account, Edu is provided with an assortment of photographs gathered from diverse Immigration Removal Centers (IRCs), Short-Term Holding Facilities (STHFs), and prisons across the globe. Supplementary to these images, Edu is offered access to visuals from the official website of Dungavel Detention Centre. Notably, the origins of the photos remain undisclosed, save for those obtained from Dungavel IRC official website. Edu is also presented with an assortment of options designed to facilitate the compilation of his testimony.
Alternative visual choices and key findings: In lieu of the images offered by the Dungavel IRC official website, the contributor elects to incorporate two photographs obtained from locations within the United States, specifically New Mexico and Texas. These alternate visuals serve to depict the Scottish Detention Centre. Both selected images derive from detention centres managed by GEO Group, the same organisation overseeing the operation of the Scottish detention facility. Remarkably, GEO Group stands as the second largest private prison company in the USA and holds responsibility for various facilities, including Guantanamo detention center.
